Recently, I hear a lot about healing and wellness, but what does it really mean?
When we approach things from the point of view of the body, the apparent separate self, it gives rise to all manner of therapies, which we are encouraged to follow carefully and methodically in order to cure our suffering. This is to get things back to front entirely!
It is to subscribe to the idea that there is a body/person who suffers. But when we scratch the surface of this presumption we see that it is a can of worms. Our education system, in particular, our scientific research should be enough to convince us of that!
A continual accumulation of knowledge, for what?
So, what do we know for sure?
We cannot be sure that the body and world exist. As far as we know, we could be dreaming. In a dream, everything appears to be real until we wake up and realize, "Oh! It was just a dream..."
What we can be certain of, however, is that we are conscious!
Then, in the realization that you are conscious comes the realization that you "know" that you are conscious. Consciousness knowing itself is the end of all suffering. It is to see through the illusion. It is what you are.
So then, knowing that you are That, consciousness itself, where is the person who suffers?
This is why trying to heal yourself is like trying to get Father Christmas to lose weight.
It's enough to see the person doesn't exist!
